How to Measure for Premium Light Filtering Fabric Roller Shades

Let's make sure you have what you need!  

• A metal tape measure
• Pen and paper to record all measurements
• Check if you have sufficient depth: Measure inside the window opening from the front to the back of the opening where the blind would mount. The depth must be at least 1 5/8” for an open roll and it must be at least 3 5/8" for a valance flush mount (fully recessed)… If your depth is not sufficient please see our outside mount instructions. 

Concerned about the light gaps that will occur on either side of the shade? Please choose an outside mount! 

How to Measure:

Let's start with the Width:

• Inside of the window opening/frame measure from left to right at the top of the opening (where you will mount the shade).  That is your ordering width.

Now, let's do the Height:

• Inside of the window opening/frame measure from the top of the opening to the bottom of the opening/sill on the left-hand side, the middle, and on the right-hand side. Write down all 3 measurements and circle the tallest. That is your ordering height.

Note: Roller shade fabrics will be approximately 1 ¼" inches narrower than your ordering width to allow for brackets. If concerned over resulting light gap please select outside mount.  No deductions will be made to your Height.

• Check if you have sufficient flat space. You must have at least 1 5/8" for an open roll and you must have at least 2" when ordering with a valance.

How to Measure:

Let's start with the Width:

• Measure the width of the area you want to cover from outside edge to outside edge. Write down the measurement.  *That is your ordering width. If space permits we recommend adding 1-1 ½" on the left and right side for a total of 2-3". This will help eliminate light seepage.

Now, let's do the Height:

• Measure the height of the area you want to cover.  *That is your ordering height. Generally speaking, adding 3-4" to the height of your opening (including molding or framework you wish to cover) will allow you room to mount above the window frame.

Note: The factory will make necessary deductions to your Width to allow for brackets. If you need to cover a specific width add 1 ¼" to your ordered width. No deductions will be made to your Height.
