Inside Mount
Let's make sure you have what you need!
- A metal tape measure
- Pen and paper to record all measurements
- Check if you have sufficient depth: Measure inside the window opening from the front to the back of the opening where the blind would mount. The depth must be at least 2”. To have a flush mount (fully recessed) the depth must be at least 3 ¾”. If your depth is not sufficient please see our outside mount instructions
How to Measure
- Let's start with the Width:
- Inside of the window or door opening/frame measure from left to right at the top of the opening, the middle of the opening, and then the bottom of the opening. Write down all 3 measurements and circle the narrowest. If rounding is necessary, round down to the nearest 1/8”. *That is your ordering width.
- Now, let's do the Height:
- Inside of the window or door opening/frame measure from the top of the opening to the bottom of the opening/sill on the left-hand side, the middle, and on the right-hand side. Write down all 3 measurements and circle the shortest. *That is your ordering height.
Note: The factory will make necessary deductions of approximately ½" to your Width and ½" to your Height to account for movement in the window or door opening and to ensure that the valance will fit.
Outside Mount
Let's make sure you have what you need!
- A metal tape measure
- Pen and paper to record all measurements
- Check if you have sufficient flat space. For a successful outside mount, you must have at least 1 ¾" of flat space above the window or door opening.
How to Measure
- Let's start with the Width:
- Measure the width of the area you want to cover from outside edge to outside edge. Write down the measurement. *That is your ordering width. If space permits we recommend for the blind to overlap the opening by at least 3" on the left and right side for a total of 6".
- Now, let's do the Height:
- Measure the height of the area you want to cover from where you plan to mount the brackets down to where you want the bottom of the vane to end. *That is your ordering height. The blind will be made to the height you order with a minimal +¾" tolerance. Although a successful mount requires at least 1 ¾" of flat space, if space permits we recommend mounting at least 3" above the window opening.
Note: The factory will not make any deductions to your Width or Height, however, the valance will be 1" wider than the blind to cover the track.
*For a door mount, we recommend that vertical blinds hang 1" above the floor. For a standard window, we recommend that vertical blinds hang at least ¼" above the windowsill.
