Wood blinds can be mounted with either an inside or outside mount. An inside mount fits the blinds within the window frame, creating a sleek, built-in look and allowing for more window sill space. This product option works best for large windows with frames deep enough to hold the blinds. An outside mount attaches the blinds to the wall or molding outside the window frame, which can make the window look larger and block out more light. This option is ideal if your windows are shallow or you want to cover trim or gaps around the frame.

Accurate measuring is key to a perfect fit for wood blinds as your window treatment. First, decide if you’ll go for an inside or outside mount, as this affects your measurements. For an inside mount, measure the exact window size by taking the width and height within the frame at the top, middle, and bottom. Use the narrowest width and tallest height to ensure a snug fit. For an outside mount, measure the width and height of the area you want the blinds to cover, typically extending a few inches beyond the window frame for full coverage. Double-check all measurements before ordering for the best results!

Wood blinds are long lasting and easy to clean but they do have their limits. Since real wood is a natural product, it can absorb moisture in humid environments and can warp over time, so we don't recommend real wood blinds for steamy bathrooms or kitchens.  

In those cases, faux wood blinds are a great choice since they don't react to humidity changes and have the same look for your windows. In fact, you can find natural colors of faux wood blinds that are similar to real wood blinds, including paints and stains.
